I met these amazing chicks at the Woodford Planting Festival in 2015. Insanely great performers. They are totally awesome.
Sparrow-Folk are Canberra duo, Cathy Crowley and Juliet Moody, who started out as drama teachers and improv theatre performers, then won the ACT final of the ABC’s Exhumed competition in 2013.
Now they are self-categorised as a ‘glam-folk’ act – a scary thought to a dyed in the wool folkie like me! Their interpretation of this genre is ‘Lady Gaga meets The Seekers’ and they describe themselves as the love-child of Madonna and John Denver!
And even worse – they both play the ukulele!!! (Fortunately, quite well!) – JULIE CAVANAGH
